The answer, my friend
I haven't done a musical accompaniment in some time. For some reason this song came to mind. Nick Milton opens up with a great real life scenario, "A large proportion of your organisational knowledge is never written down, and is often too complex or too contextual to transfer in written form anyway. If you need to find this knowledge, you need find the person. But how?" Your answers won't be blowin' in the wind if you read more at Knoco stories: What's the best way to find "people who know"? Yellow Pages? Or Social Media?

Scientist vs Engineer
"Data scientists spend most of their time (up to 79%!) on the part of their job they hate most," is the opening line by Laurel Brunk. If you always wondered what the difference was between a Data Scientist and a Data Engineer, you will want to read more at Data Science Central: Why Every Data Scientist Needs A Data Engineer

State of the art
You'll be happy to know that the US military is state of the art. The eight-inch floppy disks, a critical part of operating the Air Force's intercontinental ballistic missile command, control, and communications network, have been replaced. With 5.25 inch disks, with 3.5" diskettes you ask? Good guess, but no. It seems they've been replaced with a "highly secure solid state digital storage solution." (Translation - thumb drive?) Read more at ars technica: Air Force finally retires 8-inch floppies from missile launch control system

NOT paying hackers
For your National Cybersecurity Awareness Month post this morning, I want you to be aware that once hit with ransomware, you may have more choices than simply paying up. This post notes, "A decryptor for the STOP Ransomware has been released by Emsisoft and Michael Gillespie that allows you to decrypt files encrypted by 148 variants of the infection for free." I also know the FBI has decryption keys for other types of ransomware. Read more at BLEEPING COMPUTER: STOP Ransomware Decryptor Released for 148 Variants

Hard pass
Here is an interesting app for your phone if you're a trail attorney. I'm smirking a bit as I write this as I can't help picturing an impatient judge glaring down at counsel as they say, "Just one more swipe your honor, I almost have it." Maybe it works better as a study aid used outside the courtroom? Read more at iPhone J.D.: Review: Courtroom Objections -- trial assistance on your iPhone

Steps to Prepare for Cyber Attack
One recent study estimated that a cyber-attack occurs every 39 seconds, which underscores the need of every business in America to be prepared for the possibility that their network security will eventually be tested if not breached. For law firms, the risk is even more severe. As of 2017, around 20% of all U.S. based law firms had been hacked. By early 2019, that percentage had risen to an alarming 25%.
