Something Different
It has been my habit over the years to try to think of something clever, slightly outrageous or twisted and funny for the April first edition of the newsletter. Given the world situation I thought that might come off as inappropriate and so I am going to try something new this year. As I look out the window of my office and the sun rising over the mountains, I think of the beauty of nature that surrounds me. The house is full of sleeping people that I love and who love me. My team and my coworkers are scattered to their homes, working hard to service our clients in this new way. So many people are working hard to help us through this situation. So I'm taking a break today, editorially speaking, from the world as it is. In the paraphrased words of Mythbuster Adam Savage, "I reject this reality and substitute my own." Enjoy with me a (mostly) COVID-19/coronavirus-free (and significantly shorter) version of the newsletter today. I think you'll find these highlights worthy of thought and consideration. Tomorrow will come quickly enough.

What you don't need
I'm going to skip over half of Matt James' post and go for the section people don't usually include when they talk about working remotely - what people DON'T need. First on Matt's list is "Shiny new distractions." And this leads me to all the sales and marketing emails I have gotten in the last few months. I am shocked by all the emails offering me this new tool or service. Some are "free," some for fees. The LAST thing I am interested in right now is trying to add dozens of new tools. Fortunately our remote strategy and systems are very robust, what I have had to do, has been minimal. Read more about what you don't need at LawSites: Empowering Lawyers Who Must Work Remotely

More PowerToys
I've mentioned before I love the Microsoft utilities they bundle together as "PowerToys." The bundle just got bigger and better with the addition of Window Walker, PowerPreview, and Image Resizer (and over 100 bugfixes!). Check out what's new at BLEEPING COMPUTER: Microsoft Updates Windows 10 PowerToys With New Utilities

Next time just say "nay nay"
Shame on Gordon Jackson. Care should always be taken when discussing a client and their affairs. I can't imagine under any condition where talking about client on a commuter train full of people demonstrates such care. I note with some irony the line, "but given the reference to the SLCC it would not be appropriate to comment further." If only Mr. Jackson had the foresight to not be talking earlier on the train. Next time Mr. Jackson, take a lesson from John Pinette and just say "nay nay."
