Job Description: KM Executive Sponsor
So you've been asked to be the executive sponsor for the knowledge management program in your firm. What exactly does that mean? Nick Milton lays out the rules, everything from acting as a customer to the program and "defining the needs and success criteria for implementation," to appointing and managing "a Chief Knowledge Officer or Head of KM plus their implementation team." For the full on job description, be sure to read more at Knoco stories: What should the KM executive sponsor do?

Not sure how to act
According to the CDC, I can now go maskless: "Under the new guidance, people who are fully vaccinated (meaning they have waited two weeks after the final dose of their vaccine) can now skip mask use and social distancing both indoors and outdoors." As one might expect, there are caveats and while I welcome the opportunity (and will not miss walking back to my car to get my mask, my glasses fogging up and other joys of wearing a mask), I'm not sure how to act. It has amazed me that even after a year of practice some people still can't wear their masks properly. I hate to say it, but most everyone I see I will be wondering if they are truly vaccinated or just carelessly going maskless. Read more at ars technica: Vaccinated individuals can now go maskless in most indoor locations

Shortages and price spikes
You may have read about auto plants having to scale back production due to ship shortages. Now it seems that is just the start. The semiconductor supply crunch is causing availability issues and prices for some technology to spike - namely televisions. When "components have seen prices jump orders of magnitude; voltage regulators used in countless products that normally cost 50 cents have been selling for as much as $70." gaming consoles, laptops, and pretty much anything with a screen is going to cost more. Buy your tech now while you can afford it. Read more at ars technica: The chip shortage is driving up tech prices-starting with TVs
