On the security side
If you are a user of Duo MFA or a VPNs, these are posts that should concern you. "Hackers have managed to compromise a telephony provider for Duo, the Cisco-owned company providing secure access solutions, and steal MFA (multi-factor authentication) SMS message logs of Duo customers." and "Cisco warns about a large-scale credential brute-forcing campaign targeting VPN and SSH services on Cisco, CheckPoint, Fortinet, SonicWall, and Ubiquiti devices worldwide." Kelvin Timeline
A scratch built LLM? Trained on "trained entirely on clean, legally permissible data?" Designed specifically for the legal market? Do I have your attention yet? What about the dulcet tones of Bob Ambrogi in the podcast? Bob interviews Jillian Bommarito, chief risk officer at 273 Ventures, about the "Kelvin Large Language Model - or KL3M (pronounced CLEM) for short. If you are a certified nerd, you'll love the opening explanation for Jillian's company and product names. Be sure to listen and read more at LawSites: On LawNext: All About KL3M, The First LLM Built From Scratch for Legal, with 273 Ventures' Jillian Bommarito

AI <> human cognition
With a hat tip to the SHIFT*BASE blog, we have this paper by Teppo Felin and Matthias Holweg of the University of Oxford - Said Business School. I'm only partway into the 46 pages of this paper and I've been going back and rereading parts, but I am quite sure I can guarantee that this will make you think. In a nutshell, they are saying that human cognition is "better conceptualized as a form of theorizing" and that ultimately "AI's data-based prediction is different from human theory-based causal logic." Set aside some uninterrupted time in a quiet space to read more at SSRN: Theory Is All You Need: AI, Human Cognition, and Decision Making
