Win friends/Influence people
I wonder what Dale Carnegie would think of the James Cook University research that shows that being vague is "unlikely to help you win friends or influence people." Adi Gaskell writes, "In a set of nine carefully planned experiments with people from Western and Asian backgrounds, researchers aimed to understand how people react to vague and direct answers to questions. Ambiguous responses sometimes made folks think someone was hiding the truth, and other times made them seem uninterested, which, in turn, made the responder less likable." Take two and call the SEC in the morning
I had forgotten that SEC proposed changes to Edgar and that the official comment period was closed until I read Liz Dunshee's post today. It would seem that with only 30 comments, many people forgot about it. From the two comments Liz highlighted, I suspect it will take more then two aspirins (even at this size) to overcome the potential headaches. Read and SHARE
No one likes to admit they were wrong or that they got taken in by a scam. I'll add my kudos to Stu Sjouwerman's to the CEO who admitted in front of all their employees. Share this post with your senior management as a way to let them know that anyone can be taken in, but the key is quick and decisive action reporting the issue. Culture is set from the top down. I don't know
Rhea Kelly and Jenay Robert's conversation is very refreshing. The openness in which they talk about and embrace the unknown is wonderful. I contrast that with the bulk of the conversations in legal where everything about AI is great, wonderful and amazing - and you're a loser and behind the eightball if you haven't jumped in with both feet. It would be nice if legal could say "I don't know" more. A hat tip to Stephen Abram as you listen to more at CAMPUS TECHNOLOGY: Getting Comfortable with "I Don't Know": Educause's 2024 AI Landscape Study
