Four nothing burgers & a wait and see

Bob Ambrogi reports on two AI happenings in the courts. First up the Delaware Supreme Court adopted "an interim policy providing guidance on the use of gen AI by judges and court personnel." and then the Supreme Court of Georgia moved along with its Ad Hoc Committee on Artificial Intelligence and the Courts by appointing the 16 members. Delaware now has five policies on the use of gen AI tools by "all judicial branch judicial officers, employees, law clerks, interns, externs, and volunteers." Of these five, four are nothing burgers - reworks of existing guidelines or simple common sense. Summarizing:
#1 - People are still responsible for the work you turn in, no matter what tools you used to help you.
#2 - Don't be stupid and use tools you don't know how to use.
#3 - A reworking of #1, using different words.
#4 - Obey all current laws and policies. (Does anyone think that using AI suddenly allows you to start breaking the laws?)
The last one is actually something and interesting to boot. "Non-Approved GenAI. Authorized Users may not input any Non-Public Information into Non-Approved GenAI. Non-Approved GenAI may not be used on State Technology Resources." It seems the court system's administrative office is going to approve generative AI tools. I'd love to know who is doing the approval and what their credentials are. Based on Delaware, is anyone taking bets on whether Georgia committee will present something actually useful? Pointless fines

If you drink your morning coffee or soda while reading the PinHawk, I recommend you put the cup, can or bottle down and swallow. You don't want to get coffee or soda all over your monitors. And just a reminder that today is not the first of April. The Russian government has fined Google $20 decillion. If you have never heard of decillion or see it written out, it would be the number 20 followed by 33 zeros. All I can say is that it just "fits" in the world of 2024 we live in. Jobs, cars, computers and AI

In his post today, Egon Kraev argues that AI everywhere means more white collar jobs everywhere. As a historic example he uses the car mechanic. He writes, "Back when cars first appeared, each one required constant maintenance, so the only practical way to own and use a car was to employ a full-time mechanic. Over time, cars became much easier to operate and maintain, to the point where professional intervention is needed once a year, if then. Does that mean that fewer people are making a living as car mechanics now? Not at all." Well. I wonder, as cars become more intertwined with computers and AI, will that invalidate his argument?
