One of my takeways from this post is that Robert Diab, and I think very differently. He received an email from a faculty member at the University of Toronto on the topic of AI usage on final exams. His reaction upon reading the email was 1) One is that we're close to the point where AI is baked into the system and not merely an app we can cordon off. And 2) the assumption that hovers over the whole discussion that goes without saying: that using AI on a law school exam is to be avoided at all costs. My first reaction was - Dang... People are spending A LOT of time trying to get around the rules! I think his first observation is off, we're aren't yet to that baked tipping point. Debate on his second thought that "using AI is tantamount to cheating." I'm sure some folks will thing am an old fuddy-duddy, but I do think there is value in learning how to master a task without technology assistance. I'll go back to basic math when I was in school and the fact that we weren't allowed to use calculators until we had mastered the basics on our own. So the real question is when is that point? When is the right point where using generative AI isn't cheating? Is it after college? After law school? What do you think? Read more at Slaw: Should Law Students Be Using AI - Even on Exams?

I've been able to scale back my travel in recent years, but in all my years of travel I don't I've heard a worst hotel story! Most of my hotel experiences have been pretty good. A few times things have gone awry but I usually ended up with an upgrade. There have been some airlines issues as well, but nothing as bad as someone dying on my flight. Not to self: Don't travel with Doug. To feel better about your stay, read more at eDiscovery Today: Worst Legalweek Hotel Story Ever?: Conference Trends

Myth or reality?

If you're not up on your cybersecurity policy or worse, don't have one, then you need to read Mirko Zorz's post. He covers everything from misconceptions to why claims get denied. Consider the following three statements:
Insurance will cover all costs after a breach.
Nation-state attacks are covered.
If we meet security standards, our claim will be paid.
If you thought any of these are true, then you need to read more at HELPNETSECURITY: Cyber insurance isn't always what it seems
