AI to excess

This post is somewhat of a companion piece to yesterdays post by Sohrob Kazerounian. Steve Durbin takes a slightly different tact, arguing that when it comes to empowered AI agent, we're now entering a phase of "excessive agency - the security risk of entrusting these tools with so much power, access, and information." It's all well and good to empower AI, but as we humans know all too well, anything to excess usually ends up as a problem. Steve talks about excessive functionality, excessive permissions and excessive autonomy.

Lucky Canadians!

Branislav Urosevic writes, "The Ontario Bar Association has recently launched a hands-on AI learning platform tailored for lawyers. Called the AI Academy, the initiative is designed to help legal professionals explore, experiment with, and adopt AI tools relevant to their practice." Simple. Practical. And hopefully, extremely successful. ABA, are you watching this? Read more at CANADIAN LAWYER: AI academy gives law students a head start on legal tech, says OBA innovator

A better experience for everybody

Laura Kalbag has a good post to make you think about system design. She writes, "Factoring in a range of hearing, movement, sight, and cognitive abilities makes your product a better experience for everybody while preventing the exclusion of disabled people who would otherwise not be able to use it." "a better experience for everybody..." isn't that the holy grail of what we're doing? A hat tip to Stephen Abram as you trhink about making things better for everyone by reading more at penpot blog: Accessible Design Checklist
