And there you have it!

And there you have it! No articles need to discuss the cost of AI as those costs are to be absorbed by the firm! Benjamin Joyner neatly summaries thing, "A new report from the Thomson Reuters Institute found that many lawyers don't expect firms to lower their rates as a result of generative AI. But they also don't plan on passing on gen AI expenses to clients either." Am I getting this right? If you aren't lowering your rates AND you are absorbing all the costs of artificial intelligence tools AND you follow the ABA Opinion 512, the only want to continue to keep your profitability level would be to fill all those hours "saved" by AI with other billable work but to then also bill more to cover the cost of the AI tools. I'm not sure how much of a real world scenario that is. Read more at Legaltech news: Many Lawyers Don't Expect Gen AI to Bring Down Law Firm Rates

A lot of NOT; not a lot of teeth

I was following along Alexander Lugo's post thinking kudos to the Florida Bar for its cybersecurity efforts. But then Franklin Zemel's comments made me laugh out loud, "This is not a direction, it's not an order, it's not setting minimum standards, but it is designed to jump start a discussion about how law firms need to take real precautions and steps to a minimize the risks of an event, and if that event occurs to reduce or minimize the damage." That is alot of "NOT" to what the Florida Bar has created. I hope it does indeed jumpstart conversations and provide education to firms unaware of the value of cybersecurity and incident response plans.I wonder if it would be more powerful if there was less NOT to it.
