Let's be careful out there

The authors of these two posts channel their inner Sgt. Phil Esterhaus, warning us all to be careful of our generativeAI deployments. Topping the issues are the security concerns (70%), lack of data integrity (64%) and trustworthiness (57%). Not simple issues to say the least! And given that average business "now shares more than 7.7GB of data with AI tools per month" and that 89% of them "have zero visibility into AI usage" the "gap in oversight and control" is more like a chasm! Listen to the admonitions of the good Sargeant as you read more at HELPNETSECURITY:

minimum waste and mAxImum joy

Its good to know that Jerry Tworek, VP of Research at OpenAI, knows their ChatGPT Operator isn't very smooth right now. But he is promising that it will soon be a "very useful tool." If your not familiar with Operator, it's designed to handle "repetitive browser tasks that do not require any attention from users." Author, Mayank Parmar, minces no words in saying, "However, Operator in its current state isn't productive or useful and often fails at basic tasks." Turn on your speakers and listen to as you read more at BLEEPINGCOMPUTER: OpenAI hints at a big upgrade for ChatGPT Operator Agent

Consider yourself warned

"Signal Messenger is warning the users of its Windows Desktop version that the privacy of their messages is under threat by Recall, the AI tool rolling out in Windows 11 that will screenshot, index, and store almost everything a user does every three seconds." While Microsoft changed Recall to opt in vs opt out, there are clearly still issues. Dan Goodin writes, "Researcher Kevin Beaumont performed his own deep-dive analysis that also found that some of the new controls were lacking. For instance, Recall continued to screenshot his payment card details. It also decrypted the database with a simple fingerprint scan or PIN. And it's unclear whether the type of sophisticated malware that routinely infects consumer and enterprise Windows users will be able to decrypt encrypted database contents." Let's all say NO to recall. Read more at ars technica: "Microsoft has simply given us no other option," Signal says as it blocks Windows Recall
