Immature cases

It would seem that agentic AI may be dead before it's truly had a chance to live. According to Gartner research, as much as 40% of agentic AI projects "are likely to be cancelled within only two years due to rising costs and a poor return on investment." Gartner also noted that "the use cases for agentic AI is currently immature." Matthew Broersma also wrote, "Much agentic AI is driven by hype, with the vast majority of so-called AI agents actually being repackaged versions of existing products such as chatbots, the analysts said." Yes indeed. "Much of AI" is driven by hype. Don't be caught up in it and read more at Silicon: Gartner: 40 Percent Of AI Agent Projects To Be Cancelled By 2027

Word Power

You gotta love it when our industry ads to the vocabulary of the world. "A new AI-related definition of Slop has recently been added to the Cambridge Dictionary. The traditional definition of slop is 'liquid or wet food waste, especially when it is fed to animals'. The newly updated definition is: content on the internet that is of very low quality, especially when it is created by artificial intelligence." the holy grAIl

The devil is always in the details. This particular devil is a clause in a contract between OpenAI and Microsoft concerning the AI holy grail: artificial general intelligence. Kylie Robison writes, "The clause states that if OpenAI's board ever declares it has developed artificial general intelligence (AGI), it would limit Microsoft's contracted access to the startup's future technologies. Microsoft, which has invested more than $13 billion in OpenAI, is now reportedly pushing for the removal of the clause and is considering walking away from the deal entirely, according to the Financial Times." Yet another hat tip to Stephen Abram as you read more at WIRED: OpenAI's Unreleased AGI Paper Could Complicate Microsoft Negotiations
