I'm taking bets on whether the internal code name for GPT-5.1 was Sybil. OpenAI took some heat that their previous models were "excessively cheerful and sycophantic." Now you can get your feedback from eight different versions. Your answers can be presented by a professional, friendly, candid, quirky, efficient, cynical, or nerdy personality. He eighth is a "default" personality which I guess we can assume is the old excessively cheerful and sycophantic one? It would be interesting to see how the answers to the same prompt differed among those personalities. Did the butler do it?
I seem to be accumulating a lot of white papers to read in my already limited spare time. Via this post I've now got a 38-page PDF entitled "Sharp Outlooks Into an Uncertain Future." The post is short and based on the table of contents to the report, I jumped to virtually the end of the report, page 35, to the section entitled, "Why AI Return on Investment in Legal Will Lag in 2026." [get/got/gotten] the saturation point
Nick Huber talks to Gartner's Weston Wicks about the global legaltgech market. Weston goes on the record saying, "I think the fundraising [in legaltech] is going to slow down... because I feel like the market's getting to a saturation point. Any slowdown may cause a consolidation in the market, with some struggling suppliers being bought at low cost - in particular for their employees' skills or knowledge, rather than for its products or services - by larger suppliers." There have been a few big fundraisers recently, but I would argue we're not getting to, we've already reached that saturation point.
